MadeByGideon on Facebook - look me up and like me! This is a floating shelf with drawer based on my floating z-joint shelves. The drawer in this piece is the same type of box configuration - same joinery but pivoted and a bottom set in. The drawer has an ebony dowel pull and the interior is stained black to balance the ebony. This piece is finished with tung oil and a paste wax protective top coat which provides that hand rubbed look and "that feel". Everything I make has to be tactile and beg to be touched. They attach to the wall via embedded metal double keyhole plates which are very secure and invisible from sight. The style of this is based on a combination of mid century American modern and late art deco/machine age. In the late 1930's and early 40's, you begin to see a good number of pieces using a longer round dowel as drawer and door pulls. I thought it would be a great mix of era details. These can be ordered in a large variety of configurations - multiple drawers horizontal or vertical, different lengths, heights and widths, as tables, wall hanging consoles - what ever you want.

Details such as bowties can be ordered as well - this particular piece needed to have a crack prevented from expanding. If you're going to salvage material, do it in style.
