An attractive drop end sofa for reupholstery. We date this sofa to the very early 20th century. The sofa sits on bun feet at the front and small legs at the rear, all above ball castors.

The sofa is upholstered in a cream calico fabric. The seat base and back rest are sprung and the armrests have been overstuffed to form a scroll end. The armrests continue back to join the backrest.

The sofa is fitted with a mechanism to lower the right hand side arm drop end, this can be lowered to varying intervals. The mechanism is operated by a stand out lever handle on the outer side of the arm. The sofa has an overall height of 36" (92cm), with an overall width of 70" (178cm) and an overall depth of 32 (81cm). It has a backrest height of 16" (41cm), a seat height of 21" (54cm), a seat width of 46" (117cm) and a seat depth of 20" (51cm). This attractive sofa remains in a good solid condition. Although it is perfectly usable as is, it would provide an ideal reupholstery/restoration project for someone with the requisite skills. There is a repair to each of the back legs and wear to the front bun feet. The ball castors have been later added. There are some minor marks to the calico, primarily to the seat cushions. This remains a very stylish and elegant settee. It is very comfortable and supportive to sit on and will continue to provide rest and relaxation for many years to come.
