Art Deco oak compact wardrobe made by United Up Works, Czechoslovakia, possibly designed by Jindrich Halabala. Maker's label to the back. This is a heavy piece, Veneered in oak, it has a solid beech wood plinth and handles around a contrasting book match central circular design. The interior is lined in oak with open compartments and a pull out metal hanger.CONDITION overall for its age is good, there are of course the usual age related scratches and marks. There are some very small area of veneers filled around the base. 138 high x 92.5 wide x 46 deep.
There is 57cm in width x 43cm deep for hanging space. The open compartments are 29cm wide x 40cm deep x 23cm high. The older pieces of furniture are better made, normally by craftsmen and not machines, have more character & if looked after will last many years.
I also love much older pieces, if they are unusual, well made & a great design I will offer them for sale. I like to keep pieces as original as possible & will clean & re oil / wax. I convert some to'Hairpin leg' pieces if they have no legs / ugly legs or missing legs.
