Welcome to our listing for this superb and rare s. Et of four genuine 1930's. Bergere cocktail / parlour chairs with bentwood turned beech frames.
This is a good quality set of their time but we are unsure of their exact maker, age, origin etc. That said it is a well made set with a good bit of age to it.They are not an identically matched set, well three are the same and the fourth is slightly lower and different in design. They are more of a cocktail type slipper / parlour chair in design with a lower seat height.
The bentwood and turned frames appear to be made from solid beech wood, which over the years has picked up a stunning patina. The bergere panels have aged very well and in general are still strong and intact. The too have a truly stunning patina to them. In all honesty, other than the cover on the lower chair, this lot is in totally original, untouched, pre-loved, antique condition. The three matching chairs each measure approx. 82cm high x 54cm wide x 45cm front to back, with a seat height of 34cm, seat depth of 38cm and seat width of 45cm. The single chair is a little smaller measuring approx. 68cm high x 52cm wide x 53cm front to back, with a seat height of just 25cm. This is a pre-loved nearing antique set of chairs so they show general signs of use and age with some marks scratches and wear and tear in places. Nothing too drastic though or that couldn't easily be rectified or just lived with. Please be sure to check the photos to judge the condition for yourself. >> some points we noted upon inspection are a few very small imperfection to the bergere weave but for their age still very good and easily sorted or just left as is as it is very minor. And the seat cushions are showing their age with the one on the lower chair having an old cushion cover over it as it is pretty tired. This is a rare lot so i do not expect it to be on sale for long. They are basically in untouched antique condition and in theory are ready for use. Show me another lot like this!! And as low priced as this!!!
